HelioXR launches Helio One AR headset with real-time UI compositing

HelioXR unveiled Helio One, a $699 mixed-reality headset aimed at designers and enterprise prototypers rather than pure consumers. The headset uses a 2.8K per-eye micro-OLED display, inside-out tracking, and a novel UI compositing layer that lets designers pin live web UIs and design prototypes into physical spaces.

Alongside the hardware launch, HelioXR announced a $20 million seed extension led by Skybridge Ventures to accelerate cloud rendering, a collaborative session layer for real-time prototyping, and partnerships with popular design tools. The company emphasized low-latency streaming from desktop apps into the headset for seamless iteration.

Early adopters praised the headset’s ergonomics and the compositing features that simplify AR prototyping. Critics noted the ecosystem is nascent and urged HelioXR to invest in robust developer tooling and performance parity with desktop workflows.
