Helix BioAI secures $140M to launch AtlasGPT: protein design assistant for biotech labs
AI · 6 min read
AtlasGPT combines generative protein design, wet-lab protocol suggestion, and predictive models for expression and stability to help biotech teams iterate faster. The system proposes variant libraries, ranks candidates by manufacturability, and generates automation-ready protocols for liquid handlers.
The $140 million financing was led by BioFrontier Capital and includes strategic biopharma investors. Helix BioAI said proceeds will scale dataset curation, enhance wet-lab integration, and expand regulatory and safety review tooling for deployments in therapeutics and industrial biotechnology.
Early collaborations with research groups reported faster cycle times from design to first-pass validation. Helix emphasized strong governance layers, including human oversight and experimental risk assessment, to ensure safe use in lab contexts.
