HelixBio raises $48M to commercialize AI-driven image analysis for pathology labs

HelixBio, which builds AI tools for pathology, announced a $48 million financing and launched SlideSense, a cloud-assisted image analysis suite that integrates with laboratory information systems (LIS) and digital slide scanners. SlideSense offers triage models for urgent findings and quantitative assays for biomarkers.

The company stressed clinical validation and interoperability; SlideSense outputs structured reports and integrates with existing sign-out workflows so pathologists can review and edit AI findings within their slide viewer. HelixBio is pursuing clinical trials to secure additional regulatory clearances in multiple jurisdictions.

Funds will be used to expand data partnerships with hospital networks, grow their regulatory and clinical ops teams, and increase model explainability and audit capabilities. Early adopters reported improved turnaround time for high-volume screening tasks and better prioritization of critical cases.
