Improbable raises $60M to build spatial multiplayer backend for studios

Improbable announced a $60 million financing to accelerate the development of its spatial multiplayer backend, which allows studios to run large numbers of simulated entities and players in persistent worlds. The company plans to invest in improved state streaming, deterministic simulation layers, and lower-latency cross-region synchronization.

The new funds will also support developer tooling to simplify testing, scaling, and orchestration of multi-region deployments. Improbable is focused on reducing the operational burden for studios building MMOs and social worlds and plans to provide managed services for smaller teams.

Improbable expects demand to rise as more studios experiment with shared persistent experiences across platforms. The company views its backend as a foundational layer for the next generation of social and multiplayer titles.
