IonDrive, a provider of edge data centers optimized for graphics and AI workloads, announced $130 million in funding to expand its footprint of micro data centers within urban metro areas.

The company is targeting cloud gaming and interactive AI streaming services that require sub-10ms round-trip times to support responsive control and tightly synchronized multimodal experiences.

With the capital, IonDrive plans to outfit sites with GPUs, custom networking stacks, and developer APIs that allow studios and streaming platforms to place game or inference instances close to end users.
