LumaPlay launches cloud-native multiplayer engine and raises $30M Series A

LumaPlay released a multiplayer engine built for containerized cloud deployment, with built-in matchmaking, authoritative server support, and deterministic rollback for action games. The product targets studios looking to scale live services quickly without building bespoke server infrastructure.

The Series A round, led by PlayScale Ventures, will support expansion of the companys managed hosting offering and deeper integrations with major cloud providers. LumaPlay also plans to launch a global telemetry service to help developers monitor player experience and server health in real time.

Studios that trialed the engine reported smooth migration of single-shard tests and reduced time-to-market for live events. LumaPlay is positioning itself as an alternative to big cloud game services by offering predictable pricing, pluggable physics modules, and a focus on high-concurrency session reliability.
