LumenAI raises $42M Series B to ship multimodal design assistant 'Lumen Studio'

LumenAI has closed a $42 million Series B led by Alta Capital with participation from Blue Ridge Ventures and several angel designers. The round will be used to scale its inference infrastructure and expand integrations with popular design tools.

Alongside the funding, LumenAI released Lumen Studio — a web-based assistant that takes wireframes, brand tokens and text prompts to generate high-fidelity UI components, responsive layouts and microcopy variations. The product emphasizes controllable design parameters like density, accessibility contrast, and interaction tone.

The company is pitching Lumen Studio as a bridge between generative models and design systems: outputs can be exported as tokens, Figma components, or production CSS. Early beta customers cite time-savings in ideation and handoff, while some designers flagged concerns about versioning and ownership workflows.
