Mailchimp launches Campaign Copilot and raises $35M to add generative content to marketing workflows

Campaign Copilot uses marketing-specific models trained on anonymized campaign performance data to recommend subject lines, send times, and segmented copy variants. The assistant also generates A/B test hypotheses and can auto-create image suggestions matched to brand colors.

The $35 million investment will fund model fine-tuning per industry, expanded localization, and improved deliverability tools. Mailchimp emphasizes that generated content is editable and that teams retain control through approval workflows and compliance filters.

Marketers appreciated faster campaign assembly and smarter variation suggestions but requested explicit testing windows and performance benchmarking. Mailchimp published a transparency document and will run a multi-week pilot with select agencies.
