Meta AI announces Horizon Sketch for collaborative AR prototyping
Tech · 5 min read
Horizon Sketch allows teams to drop rough geometry into a shared AR scene and have the model suggest object placements, interaction affordances, and spatial transitions. Designers can iterate in real time with collaborators, and the model provides multiple layout alternatives optimized for reachability and field-of-view constraints. Meta highlighted the tool’s ability to generate descriptive annotations and accessible spatial descriptions for documentation.
The system also exports to common AR runtimes and includes a previewer for headsets and phone AR. Collaboration features include live voice annotation and snapshot diffs that record model-driven changes and human edits. Meta stressed privacy features for enterprise usage, including private workspaces and encrypted sessions.
AR and spatial design studios trialing Horizon Sketch reported major time savings in blocking scenes and iterating hand interactions. The release reflects a maturing ecosystem where generative models are embedded in spatial authoring rather than used as one-off asset generators.
