Meta brings native Unreal 6 runtime to Quest with improved CPU/GPU scheduling
Gaming · 5 min read
The new runtime takes advantage of the latest headsets' heterogeneous cores and dynamic frequency scaling to balance visuals and battery life more effectively. Meta’s engineers showcased scenes with higher particle density and more complex lighting while keeping stable frame rates.
Meta also exposed a new profiling suite that integrates with Unreal 6’s task scheduler to help developers pinpoint synchronization stalls and memory fragmentation. The studio-friendly tooling surfaces costly allocations and recommends platform-specific fixes.
For designers, the update means richer visual tools can be prototyped directly on device. Meta shared partnerships with a few indie studios that are already shipping content that pushes Quest visuals closer to PC VR without drastically increasing power draw.
