Meta Open Sources LumaFlow, a Compact 3D Generative Model for Game Assets
Gaming · 4 min read
Meta’s new LumaFlow model is a compact 3D generative network designed to output low-to-mid poly meshes with baked textures and LODs suitable for real-time engines. The model is released under an open-source license and includes tools for integration with Unity and Unreal Engine pipelines.
LumaFlow focuses on speed: developers can generate hundreds of prop variations in minutes and directly export engine-ready assets, complete with collision geometry. Meta included a set of procedural rules so artists can constrain outputs to match art direction and performance budgets.
The project encourages community contributions and plugins from asset marketplaces. Meta says LumaFlow is aimed at indie developers and prototyping teams who need a fast way to iterate on environment composition without sacrificing compatibility with established game engines.
