Meta opens Horizon OS 2.0 SDK with spatial audio and passthrough mapping

Horizon OS 2.0 brings spatial audio APIs that model occlusion and reflection for more realistic soundscapes, as well as networked audio synchronization for multi-user sessions. Developers can now attach audio properties to anchors and have audio blend dynamically as users move through a shared scene.
Passthrough mapping APIs make it easier to align virtual geometry with the physical room using improved mesh reconstruction and semantic segmentation. World anchors can persist between sessions and be shared with other users via secure cloud anchors designed with privacy controls.
Meta also introduced new testing tools in the SDK for remote QA and a device emulation layer for passthrough conditions. Documentation emphasizes performance targets and fallbacks for older Quest hardware.
