Meta opens Luminous-3 Lite: compressed model for on-device creative workflows
AI · 4 min read
Luminous-3 Lite is a distilled version of Meta’s Luminous architecture tuned for design and creative microtasks that are latency-sensitive. The compact model can run on modern mobile SoCs and edge devices, enabling offline layout suggestions, image-based prompts, and quick captioning without cloud round-trips.
Meta provided an SDK with weight quantization guidance, example integrations for iOS and Android design apps, and privacy-forward policies for local inference. The company emphasized offline-first scenarios like designers working in transit or high-security environments.
The Lite release also comes with a consent and explainability toolkit that surfaces how recommendations were generated, plus an easy path to fall back to cloud models when more compute or creativity is needed.
