The new runtime reduces the end-to-end input latency by lowering scheduling jitter and streamlining the sensor fusion pipeline, which benefits fast-paced multiplayer titles and precision-focused VR experiences. Developers can expect more consistent frame delivery under variable CPU loads.
Meta also opened refined haptic APIs that allow developers to control amplitude envelopes, frequency sweeps, and per-motor patterns for the Quest controllers. These capabilities enable more expressive feedback that aligns with in-game physics and surface interactions.
To support iteration, Meta improved the runtime's remote profiling tools so teams can capture latency traces and haptic timing across networked sessions. Game designers will find these tools useful for tuning responsiveness and for validating multiplayer synchronization under realistic conditions.
