Meta releases compact Llama variant optimized for on-device design assistants

Meta's compact Llama variant aims to bring conversational and code-generation capabilities to phones, tablets, and local desktop apps used by designers. The model sacrifices some large-scale reasoning capacity in favor of faster response times and reduced memory footprint, which makes it suitable for autocomplete, microcopy generation, and smart search in design editors.

The release comes with optimized runtimes for popular mobile neural accelerators and an SDK that integrates with common design tools. Meta emphasized privacy-friendly usage: all processing can remain on-device and model updates can be shipped as small delta patches.

Design tool developers welcomed the model for enabling richer offline-first features. Several prototyping apps said they will test the new variant for local AI helpers that generate examples, convert sketches to UI components, and offer context-aware copy suggestions without sending designs to the cloud.
