Meta releases Horizon OS SDK 2.0 with generative scene tools and avatar emotion API

Meta's Horizon OS SDK 2.0 brings procedural scene generation tools that let creators seed environments with high-level prompts and constraints, producing textured layouts optimized for Quest 3 and Meta Vision Pro. The tools produce LOD-aware assets and streaming-ready geometry automatically.

A new avatar emotion API lets developers map audio and gesture inputs to a lightweight emotion model, creating more believable social presence while capping bandwidth and CPU for edge devices. Designers can tune expressivity sliders and fallback poses to maintain readability at lower framerates.

Meta also added collaboration features in the SDK for live multi-authoring of spaces and a content moderation pipeline that flags high-risk generations. The update aims to reduce production costs for social world designers while giving platform-level safeguards.
