Meta releases Horizon Workrooms SDK for XR collaboration and layered UI components

Meta's Horizon Workrooms SDK now supports layered UI components, letting developers compose 2D and 3D UI elements that persist across session states. Components can be anchored to virtual surfaces or attached to attendee avatars, enabling more modular meeting layouts.

Cross-platform session persistence ensures that when a Quest user switches to a desktop client, their active windows, pinned content, and annotation layers follow them. The SDK also offers network-optimized asset streaming so large floating canvases load progressively.

Meta is positioning the update as a tool for remote collaboration vendors and enterprise partners to build immersive meeting experiences with consistent UI behavior across devices. The company has expanded documentation focused on accessibility and moderation controls.
