Meta updates Horizon Worlds SDK with cross-platform avatar animation bundles
Gaming ยท 5 min read
Meta's Horizon SDK introduces avatar animation bundles that encapsulate skeletons, blend trees, and low-latency retargeting rules. Creators can author animations in common tools and export a single bundle that adapts to different rig sizes and headset latencies.
The SDK also includes network-smoothing strategies that help low-bandwidth users perceive stable motion without sacrificing responsiveness. Meta provided sample packs optimized for social spaces, including gesture libraries and lip-sync presets.
Meta stressed moderation and safety, adding easier reporting hooks for avatar behavior and automated heuristics to flag offensive gestures. The update hopes to accelerate creator economies by reducing friction in multi-platform publishing.
