Microsoft Designer adds 'Interaction Blueprint' from Copilot models

Microsoft updated Designer with Interaction Blueprint, a feature that generates motion specs, easing transitions, and micro-interaction timing based on static designs. The module uses Copilot-tuned models that understand component semantics and produce JSON motion specs compatible with popular animation libraries.

Designers can request subtle or pronounced motion styles, and the model outputs keyframes, easing curves, and accessibility-aware motion-reduction alternatives. The blueprints are exportable to animation tools and front-end frameworks for implementation.

Teams using the preview highlighted reduced handoff friction between designers and engineers, although fine-tuning of timing and easing remains part of implementation work. Microsoft plans to extend the feature to support stateful interactions and real-time previews in the browser.
