Microsoft Designer gets Copilot Canvas for multimodal storyboard generation

Copilot Canvas generates storyboards, user flows, and annotated prototypes by combining textual prompts with uploaded sketches, screenshots, or voice notes. Designers can ask the Canvas to expand a single frame into a sequence, auto-generate camera directions, and attach microcopy variants for different personas.

The system integrates with Microsoft 365 so teams can pull research notes, meeting transcripts, and style guidelines directly into the storyboard generation process. Outputs are editable, and Copilot Canvas keeps a change history so teams can iterate collaboratively and revert to earlier narrative versions.

Microsoft emphasizes enterprise-ready controls like data lineage, tenant-only model policies, and admin-managed templates to ensure the tool aligns with corporate branding and compliance requirements. The feature is rolling out to commercial tenants as part of Designer’s pro tier.
