Microsoft embeds Copilot Design Mode into VS Code and Figma workflows

Copilot Design Mode lets designers select a Figma component and ask Copilot to produce accessible, production-ready component code in the target framework; conversely, developers can request a Figma mock from in-repo components for review. Microsoft says the sync preserves design tokens and accessibility attributes to reduce drift.

The integration operates through secure connectors and supports team-level controls for which assets can be surfaced to Copilot. Early adopters report faster handoffs, but emphasize the need for guardrails around performance optimizations and third-party dependency choices the model suggests.

Microsoft plans to extend Copilot Design Mode with testing hooks that generate unit tests and accessibility checks tied to components, aiming to make the design-to-code loop auditable and repeatable for large teams.
