Microsoft releases Copilot Canvas SDK for third-party design apps

Microsoft's Copilot Canvas SDK enables design platforms to integrate a Copilot-like assistant directly into canvases and component panels. The SDK handles context propagation, delta-aware prompts (only sending changed parts of a canvas), and secure tokenized access so enterprise data is compartmentalized.
Key features include fragment-level suggestions, revision-aware prompts, and a sync mechanism that prevents conflicting AI edits across multiple collaborators. Microsoft emphasizes enterprise governance: admins can enforce which model backends are used and audit AI suggestions.
Several early partners in the prototyping and wireframing space announced immediate integrations, highlighting faster content generation, accessibility annotations, and code snippets for handoff. Microsoft says the SDK is generally available and supports both on-prem and cloud-hosted configurations.
