Microsoft updates Azure OpenAI with Vector Index-as-a-Service and design prompt templates

The Vector Index-as-a-Service manages dense vector stores, similarity search, and incremental updates with enterprise controls, relieving teams of infrastructure complexity. Microsoft pairs the service with quality heuristics for embeddings and out-of-the-box connectors to major DAMs and Figma.
Alongside infrastructure, Microsoft released a catalog of vetted prompt templates for design tasks—style transfer, component suggestions, accessibility remediation, and file summarization—tested against a range of small and medium model checkpoints. The templates are designed to jump-start internal design assistant projects.
Microsoft stresses enterprise features: access control, telemetry, and logging policies for compliance. Teams can combine the index service with Azure-hosted models or bring-your-own checkpoints to maintain control over sensitive assets and prompts.
