Mosaic Games secures $28M Series A to build a 'creative-first' console studio and launch 'Canvas Quest'

Canvas Quest positions player creation at the heart of its gameplay, offering robust in-game art and UI tools that let players craft levels, narratives, and visual content that can be monetized within the ecosystem. Mosaic says the game will support a creator royalty program to reward high-performing creators.

The Series A, led by Northwood Capital, will fund a 60-person studio build-out, partnerships with platform holders, and the development of an SDK that allows third-party plugins for creation tools. Mosaic also plans to invest in moderation infrastructure and creator discovery features.

Industry watchers praised the studio's creator-centric business model but raised moderation and IP concerns should player creations be monetized. Mosaic responded they are piloting content filters, dispute resolution workflows, and a revenue-exchange system that protects original creators.
