MotionGrid Raises $18M to Automate Motion Design with AI Timing Engine

MotionGrid raised $18 million from Creative Ventures and Experience Capital to further develop its AI timing engine that automatically suggests easing curves, keyframe placement, and staggered choreography for UI components. The startup focuses on reducing iteration time for motion designers and embedding motion rules into design systems.

The product plugs into existing design workflows and exports Lottie, After Effects, and production-ready CSS animations. MotionGrid’s AI analyzes component hierarchies and user flows to propose consistent motion language across complex products, addressing the common problem of inconsistent timing across teams.

CEO Rohan Patel said the company will use the funding to expand team size and build plugins for enterprise tools, plus a library of certified motion patterns for different interaction families. Motion design leads at several fintech and healthtech firms have already piloted the platform to make animations accessible and performant.
