Nebula Forge Raises $50M to Launch Quark, a Modular Cloud-Native Game Engine

Quark approaches the game engine as a set of network-enabled microservices: rendering instances, deterministic physics shards, and stateless logic nodes that developers can deploy on Kubernetes or Nebula's managed cloud. The engine supports hot-reloadable modules and a low-code visual scripting layer designed for live tuning.

The $50 million round was led by Frontier Gaming Ventures and will finance cloud infrastructure, developer tools, and middleware partnerships. Nebula Forge says Quark's architecture reduces iteration times for large-scale multiplayer experiments and allows studios to roll out new gameplay modules without stopping the world.

Early partners include two independent studios piloting cross-platform multiplayer titles. Nebula is also bundling a telemetry suite for live-ops and an economics sandbox that simulates in-game economies at scale. Developers see Quark as an alternative to monolithic engines for persistent, live-service experiences.
