Nebula Games secures $30M to fund a new AAA-lite studio focused on emergent narratives

Nebula Games announced a $30 million seed-plus round to launch a studio creating AAA-lite titles that focus on emergent narratives and player-driven economies. The studio plans to leverage modular AI NPC systems and server-authoritative economies to enable persistent consequences without the resource cost of traditional AAA development.

Their tech stack includes lightweight agent AI for NPCs, procedural event generators, and tools for designers to tune narrative incentives. By targeting AAA-lite, Nebula aims to balance scope and ambition—delivering rich, reactive worlds on tighter budgets and faster cycles.

Nebula will hire narrative designers, systems engineers, and a live-ops team. The studio expects the first title to enter pre-alpha this year with community-driven testing in closed playtests.
