NimbleSense secures $22M to scale edge AI sensor suite for retail analytics

NimbleSense's hardware-software combo uses compact depth and RGB sensors with onboard models for shopper tracking and anonymized behavior analysis. The new Nimble Core firmware enables rapid recalibration and privacy-preserving aggregation at the edge.

The funding round was led by Bessemer with participation from GV and several retail-focused strategic investors. NimbleSense plans to use proceeds to broaden its geographic footprint and add forensics tools for shrink management and heatmap-driven merchandising recommendations.

NimbleSense emphasized privacy: all human-identifying data is discarded at the sensor level, and the platform returns only product- and behavior-level signals. The company said pilots with convenience-store chains reduced average checkout times and increased targeted promotion conversion rates for in-store offers.
