Nimbus Controls Raises $20M for Haptic Design Suite for XR

Nimbus Controls announced a $20 million Series A to fund its haptic design suite aimed at AR/VR creators. The platform offers a timeline-based authoring environment for composing haptic scenes, physics-driven motor profiles, and per-device SDKs that translate designs into hardware signals with minimal latency.

Nimbus is targeting enterprise spatial-computing use cases like training simulations, remote collaboration and immersive retail. It emphasizes deterministic playback and a metrics dashboard that ties haptic events to user task performance.

Developers welcome standardized authoring for haptics, which has been fragmented across devices and tooling. Some hardware partners raised questions about battery and thermal trade-offs when delivering high-fidelity haptics on consumer headsets.

Nimbus plans to use the funding to expand hardware partnerships, add edge-optimized streaming for haptics in cloud-rendered XR, and launch an SDK beta for major headset platforms in Q3.
