Nimbus Gaming raises $30M to build cloud-native mod marketplace for indies

Nimbus Gaming closed a $30 million funding round led by Arcade Capital to build a marketplace and tooling suite for game mods focused on indie developers. The product promises frictionless distribution, versioning, and monetization of mods with cloud-hosted assets and integrated anti-cheat protections.

The marketplace includes an SDK that embeds mod hooks directly into game builds and a hosted content delivery layer optimized for spike traffic. Nimbus plans to offer revenue-sharing models tailored to small studios and mod creators, while also supporting community governance features.

Indie developers involved in the early access program said Nimbus' platform reduced the complexity of patching and content updates across platforms. The startup's longer-term vision includes analytics tied to player engagement with mods and tools for in-game discovery and curation.
