Nimbus Interactive raises $45M and launches SkyMesh — a distributed netcode for massive online games

Nimbus Interactive announced a $45 million funding round and the launch of SkyMesh, a distributed networking layer that routes authority closer to players to minimize perceived latency in very large multiplayer environments. SkyMesh supports hybrid authoritative topologies, edge-hosted simulation cells, and dynamic handoff to maintain continuity as players traverse regions.

The product includes developer tools for testing worst-case network conditions, built-in rollback for combat precision, and a telemetry dashboard to analyze desyncs and latency patterns. Nimbus says SkyMesh will reduce operational complexity for studios running large persistent worlds.

Investment proceeds will expand the company’s global edge presence and enrich SDKs for major engines. Several mid-size MMO studios are already in pilot programs, with Nimbus positioning SkyMesh as a drop-in service to avoid costly bespoke netcode builds.
