Nimbus Labs Raises $42M to Scale Design-Aware Generative AI for UI Kits

Nimbus Labs, a startup building generative AI models that output production-ready UI kits, closed a $42 million Series B led by Redwood Ventures with participation from existing backers. The round arrives after six months of pilot programs with mid-market product teams who reported a 3x acceleration in prototype-to-production handoff.
The company's core differentiator is a design-aware model that respects token systems, accessibility constraints, and component-level code generation. Nimbus announced new Figma, Sketch, and design-token sync plugins that let designers iterate visually while the AI maintains an underlying token map and component spec for engineers.
Nimbus plans to use the funds to hire engineering and developer relations talent, scale its token-aware training pipeline, and launch an enterprise control plane with audit logs and design governance. Design teams interviewed said they were cautiously optimistic: the output cuts repetitive layout work, but integrating with complex design systems remains the primary implementation challenge.
