NimbusAI Raises $85M to Launch Real-Time Creative Assistant for Video Editors

NimbusAI’s Series B was led by Arcadia Ventures with participation from Blue Harbor and several media-focused angel investors. The funding is earmarked for scaling inference infrastructure and expanding integrations with major NLEs (non-linear editors). Founders say the new capital will also go toward hiring at their newly opened LA office.
NimbusCut, announced alongside the round, analyzes footage in real time and proposes cuts, transitions, and color grade presets during live playback. The AI is trained on broadcast and cinematic footage and offers tight integration with Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, and Frame.io timelines to speed iteration between editors and producers.
Early beta testers reported 30–50% reductions in rough-cut time and highlighted the assistant’s ability to surface alternate takes and continuity fixes that humans sometimes miss. NimbusAI emphasizes human-in-the-loop controls: editors can accept, tweak, or reject suggestions, and the model adapts to a project’s aesthetic over time.
Industry analysts see the move as part of broader automation in creative workflow tools, but warn about the need for guardrails around copyright and ethical sourcing of training data. NimbusAI says it uses licensed and user-contributed footage with transparent provenance controls, and it plans additional tools for rights management in future releases.
