Search and linking are critical for Notion's discovery, yet the open-endedness of blocks can make content discoverability inconsistent. Templates partially address this by providing curated starting points, but templating can reinforce specific patterns that do not generalize across teams. The product uses subtle affordances like slash commands, drag handles, and inline breadcrumbs to reduce friction for advanced composition.

The teardown recommends a progressive disclosure path that surfaces workflow-specific guides and contextual template suggestions.
