Notion launches AI Canvas: contextual design notes and instant component extraction

AI Canvas analyzes embedded images and annotates detected components, extracting text, spacing, and modifier states into a checklist for developers and designers. It can produce a prioritized task list—e.g., 'replace placeholder image', 'define primary button token'—and link tasks to Notion issues.

The feature also offers instant component extraction: designers can export detected components into Figma or as SVGs with consistent naming. Notion highlighted collaborative workflows where PMs upload screenshots from user tests and designers convert them into structured work items in minutes.

Privacy settings allow organizations to control whether image contents are indexed by Notion's AI services. Teams appreciated the speed gains for documenting design reviews, especially during busy sprint cycles.
