Notion launches Assistant Studio to build custom workspace agents
Tech · 4 min read
Assistant Studio provides a visual builder for intents, sample prompts, and response templates, integrated with Notion’s permissions system. Teams can map intents to databases, set up scheduled summarization jobs, and define fallback behaviors. The assistants can generate meeting notes, extract action items, and synthesize cross-page status updates.
Under the hood, Notion provides a managed inference runtime that can run on private clouds for enterprise customers and a small on-device runtime for mobile. The platform supports guardrails like redaction rules and provenance traces to show which blocks informed an answer. Notion emphasized that Assistant Studio is meant to augment knowledge workers rather than replace work processes.
Early enterprise customers reported significant reductions in time spent assembling weekly reports and onboarding new hires. Notion also opened a developer API for partners to create prebuilt assistant templates for recruiting, customer success, and product management workflows.
