Notion launches Notion Canvas AI with live design suggestions and token budgeting

Notion rolled out an upgrade to Canvas with integrated AI that suggests layout improvements, accessible typography adjustments, and microcopy directly in collaborative docs. The system encourages small-scale prototyping inside documentation without forcing teams into full design tools.

A new token budgeting dashboard lets organizations track usage of generative features per workspace and per page, with alerts for potential overspend and policy controls to restrict commercial usage. Notion also added export hooks for turning Canvas prototypes into shareable Figma files or HTML snippets.

Notion positions Canvas AI as a bridge for non-designers and product managers to prototype and capture intent quickly. The company says the models run in a hybrid mode—local for basic suggestions, cloud for heavier generative tasks that require richer context.
