Notion launches Teams Canvas with real-time whiteboard and API monetization

Notion’s Teams Canvas adds collaborative drawing, sticky notes, spatial databasing, and live cursors directly inside Notion pages. The product links canvases to Notion databases so objects on the board can be treated as structured records and queried via filters and relations.

In tandem, Notion rolled out a creator-facing API monetization program that shares revenue with third-party app makers building on the platform’s new SDK. To double down on enterprise adoption, Notion also announced a $150 million strategic investment led by institutional partners to expand sales and security features.

The launch positions Notion to compete more aggressively with Miro and FigJam by folding visual collaboration into its document-first workflow. The API fund is designed to stimulate an ecosystem of paid templates, integrations and workflow automations.
