NVIDIA introduces Omniverse Designer with integrated diffusion for material authoring

The new material authoring tools let users generate base color, normal, roughness, and cavity maps from a text prompt or reference image while maintaining tileability and production-friendly UV constraints. The diffusion models are GPU-accelerated and integrated with Omniverse's live-sync pipelines.

Artists can request variant batches tuned for different platforms (mobile vs. desktop) and export shader-ready packs with LOD-aware textures. Omniverse Designer also surfaces quality-of-fit metrics that predict how a generated material will interact with different lighting rigs.

NVIDIA emphasizes the role of human curation: generated materials are starting points that artists refine with traditional sculpting and painting tools. The company says this workflow reduces repetitive noise while keeping final artistic control.
