NVIDIA Omniverse introduces AssetGen: AI-driven game-ready asset pipeline with RTX optimization
Tech · 5 min read
NVIDIA’s Omniverse platform got a dedicated AI asset generation pipeline called AssetGen, which automates creation of game-ready assets with RTX-optimized materials and baked lighting previews. AssetGen leverages NVIDIA’s internal models and SDKs to produce assets with clean UVs, LODs, and physically based rendering (PBR) material setups.
The pipeline provides interactive previews in Omniverse with path-traced lighting, allowing artists to judge how assets will look under global illumination and RTX features. It can also output assets packaged for Unreal Engine and Unity, including automatic shader node setups for both engines.
NVIDIA is pitching AssetGen as a way to accelerate environment art and iterative lighting passes for large teams while preserving artist control over final details. Early access partners appreciate the time saved in preparing assets for photorealistic lighting, though they recommend manual optimization for final-game-quality hero pieces.
