OpenAI today announced DesignGPT-XL, a 200 billion parameter model fine-tuned on a curated corpus of design systems, component libraries, and real-world product templates. The model accepts mixed inputs including screenshots, Figma files, and plain text prompts, and returns layout proposals, tokenized design systems, and SVG-compatible assets.

A core selling point is export readiness: OpenAI says the model can generate component code (React + CSS modules), design tokens, and vector assets that match a team's brand constraints. Designers can prompt for alternate density, accessibility adjustments, or platform-specific variations and receive artifacts that integrate with common tools.

OpenAI highlights controllability and prompt composability, adding new API parameters for style temperature, structure strictness, and token-level brand overrides.
