OpenAI launches DALL·E 4 Designer with vector export and layout-aware templates

OpenAI announced DALL·E 4 Designer today, a variant of its image generation model tuned for user interface creation and design system assets. The model prioritizes clean vector output, consistent component proportions, and explicit layer separation so generated artwork can be dropped straight into design tools.
Key features include native SVG export, a layers-first export mode that separates icons, backgrounds, and overlays, and a layout-aware prompt system that understands columns, grids, and responsive breakpoints. OpenAI emphasized that Designer is not a raster-only toy: outputs are intended to integrate into production workflows for iconography and component art.
OpenAI is releasing Designer as an API and a plugin for major design tools in phased rollouts starting this week. The company also published best-practice prompt templates and compatibility guides for integrating generated vectors with existing design systems and version control for assets.
