OpenCanvas raises $120M to scale realtime multimodal SDK for creators

OpenCanvas closed a $120 million Series C led by Meridian Ventures with participation from several strategic media and cloud investors. The company says the capital will be used to expand its edge inference clusters, speed up new model integrations, and grow partnerships with video platforms and AR hardware makers.

The startup’s flagship product is a realtime multimodal SDK that lets developers add synchronized text, speech, gesture and live video understanding to creative apps. Early partners include social apps, live-streaming platforms, and a handful of collaborative whiteboard vendors who are testing interactive, AI-driven overlays that respond to live performance cues.

OpenCanvas emphasized performance and privacy, offering on-prem and hybrid deployment options to keep sensitive creative assets local while routing heavy model inference to their accelerated clusters. Their roadmap includes tighter integrations with major browser runtimes and a visual debugger for multimodal event flows.
