OpenStencil Raises $11M to Democratize Hardware Prototyping for Designers
Design · 4 min read
OpenStencil, a startup creating affordable hardware prototyping kits and a collaborative CAD cloud, announced an $11 million seed-plus round led by Maker Capital. The company offers modular kits that snap together for rapid tactile exploration.
The cloud platform includes version control for physical parts, shared annotations, and integrated fabrication quotes, enabling remote teams to iterate on form and ergonomics without waiting for external vendors.
Funds will be used to scale manufacturing of the kits, build partnerships with fab labs, and add integrations with Figma-like UX tools so designers can carry interaction intent through to the physical prototype.
Product designers will find value in the shortened loop from idea to tangible mockup; OpenStencil’s challenge will be supporting increased demands for higher-fidelity materials and finishes as projects scale toward production.
