Scout Mini is a quadcopter with a 4 kg payload capacity, obstacle-aware navigation, and a modular securing bay designed for contactless package drop-offs. Orbit Robotics emphasized safety features including redundant flight controllers, geofencing baked into the firmware, and an on-device federated learning system for localized navigation improvements.
The $80 million Series B will be used to scale pilot programs across municipal partners, build out distribution hubs optimized for drone operations, and speed up the company's certification process with aviation authorities. Harbor Ventures also brings logistics partnerships intended to help Orbit integrate with existing delivery chains.
Orbit said Scout Mini will begin commercial trials with grocery and pharmacy partners this summer, with a focus on suburban and urban fringe routes where ground congestion makes drones competitive. The company added that it has an ISO-compliant privacy framework for camera-based navigation telemetry.
