Orbit Studio raises $21M to ship collaborative game prototyping engine
Gaming · 4 min read
Orbit Studio announced a $21 million seed led by Playground Global and debuted Orbit Play, a browser-native engine for rapid multiplayer prototyping. The engine focuses on instant iteration: hit play, invite testers via link, and see telemetry from live sessions.
Orbit Play supports deterministic rollback networking, integrated analytics, and a visual scripting layer so designers can prototype gameplay without deep engine expertise. The platform also includes session-recording and replay tools to speed up iteration cycles.
The funding will grow Orbit’s developer relations team, expand networking infrastructure, and add integrations with asset pipelines. Indie teams say Orbit Play lowers the friction of testing multiplayer mechanics early in development.
As game studios seek faster feedback loops, Orbit’s browser-native approach could make prototyping more inclusive. The challenge will be moving teams from prototypes to robust production pipelines without duplicating effort.
