OrbitAI launches 'Prometheus' — an LLM optimized for on-device document summarization

OrbitAI closed a $35 million financing led by Clearwater Partners and launched Prometheus, a family of compact language models optimized for offline, on-device summarization, and question-answering on enterprise documents. The models target mobile, edge servers, and secure enclaves where data residency and latency are critical.
Prometheus uses a hybrid retrieval-augmented mechanism with compressed knowledge distillation to keep context windows effective without cloud dependencies. OrbitAI is offering SDKs for iOS, Android, and Linux containers, with a privacy-focused licensing model suited for regulated industries.
The round will fund broader model development, security certifications, and partnerships with EDR and document management vendors. OrbitAI said early customers include financial firms and healthcare groups running confidential summarization workloads.
