OrbitOS, which provides a distributed edge cloud optimized for creative apps, announced a $50 million Series C led by Vertex Growth. The company operates micro data centers and a scheduler that places rendering and compute jobs close to users to minimize latency during collaborative design sessions.
OrbitOS integrates with popular creative apps and offers ephemeral GPU bursts, so design teams can run heavy rendering, physics simulations, or AI-assisted tooling without depending on centralized data centers. The company claims latency reductions of up to 60% for teams distributed across continents.
Funding will accelerate deployment of additional micro sites, expand the partner marketplace for certified software, and introduce a new billing model aimed at predictable monthly costs for studios. OrbitOS also announced a pilot program with a major animation studio for end-to-end remote production pipelines.
