OrbitOS raises $70M to ship a unified edge OS for mixed‑reality devices
Tech · 6 min read
OrbitOS is building an edge‑native OS that abstracts sensors, spatial anchors, and input methods, enabling developers to write once and deploy across glasses, headsets, and spatial screens. The OS focuses on latency, developer tooling, and security compartments for mixed reality.
The round was co‑led by Kleiner Perkins and Samsung NEXT with strategic investments from chip vendors and an industrial AR company. OrbitOS plans to ship a dev kit and emulator before the end of 2026 and to partner with OEMs for hardware optimization.
The startup argues that fragmented stacks limit ecosystem growth and that a shared OS can accelerate content creation and enterprise adoption. Early demos show cross‑device continuity for collaborative design reviews and remote assistance.
