OrbitOS Unveils Edge AI Appliance for Retail with $60M Series B
Tech · 6 min read
OrbitOS raised $60 million in a Series B led by Frontier Ventures to fund manufacturing scale-up and field deployments. The company's edge appliance packs a custom NPU, multi-camera input, and local inference pipelines that operate without sending raw video to the cloud.
The product, called OrbitEdge Retail, offers prebuilt modules for people counting, shelf analytics, and product recognition, with a dashboard tailored for store managers and UX designers to configure in-store experiences. OrbitOS emphasizes privacy-by-design: processed metadata, not raw video, is forwarded to cloud services.
Retail pilots with three regional supermarket chains have already reduced shrink and improved personalized offers. OrbitOS plans integrations with point-of-sale systems and loyalty platforms, positioning the product as a bridge between physical retail and personalized digital experiences.
